Initial Impressions:

Wrapper exploded and started to unravel almost immediately after lighting.

First Third Notes:

Tasting wood, not like cedar. Something like a charred oak maybe. And herbs. Interesting, but the cigar and/or my palate was ruined by the combustion issues. My tongue and mouth taste like I've been licking an ashtray.

Second Third Notes:

The unpleasant bitter aftertaste is still on my palate. Unfortunately it's a little early to try to cut that with a nice strong spirit. I can still discern some of the flavors of the blend but it's all mixed up with that burnt tobacco taste.

Finishing Notes:

Did not finish as there was no point.

Review:

Oh well, it happens. This smoke reminded me of a box of CAO Brazilla sticks I bought years ago. Almost every one of their wrappers exploded or just unraveled on me. Real shame since I really liked the blend. I don't know enough about cigar construction to be sure but I wonder if they and RyJ were using thinner, more delicate wrapper leaves or something. Anyway, this experience does not make me want to try another 1875. Since this was a single from a sampler, I want to note that it had been in my humidor for at least a month, maybe two, so I don't think improper humidification would have been the issue unless it were allowed to really dry out at some point. The pre-light appearance was fine with the exception of a bit of roughness in the foot.
