Initial Impressions:

Wrapper looks good, mild smell. Baking spices and rich tobacco on cold draw.

First Third Notes:

Mild, nutty, a little baking spice. Cedar. Fleeting anise. Good Dominican tobacco. Good amount of smoke, ash very delicate - falls off easily. Perfect draw.

Second Third Notes:

Consistent with first third, which is fine by me. Great burn, no touch-ups needed. Middle of second third, extra nuttiness kicked in... maybe almond.

Finishing Notes:

Didn't finish- not enough time for a Churchill this morning. Damn work gets in the way.

Review:

Holts description of this cigar is pretty spot-on. I didn't read it until the second third and I got all the tasting notes they mentioned, which doesn't happen with me all that often. Although I don't think i can discern oak from any other wood except cedar. At $4.50 a stick (box price - don't pay the crazy 12.50 for a single) I think this is a pretty great everday smoke and a good choice for a new cigar smoker. It's mild but quite interesting. I'm totally unfamiliar with the brand and probably would not have tried it except it was a selection in Holt's Cigar of the Month Club. Perfect morning yard or golf cigar, and it stands up well against something like Oliva Connecticut, San Cristobal Elegancia or My Father Connecticut albeit more mild. Aftertaste isn't the best, but otherwise I think it's great for the price and I may consider a box purchase down the road. RP Mulligans Yacht Club is probably a bit better, but has a tighter draw.
